Hello! My name is Sara Ruiz. I grew up in the Orlando area for the majority of my childhood. I graduated from Rollins College in 2018. I graduated with a major in anthropology and a minor in archaeology. I am currently working on a master’s in political science. I was introduced to Hope through my parents when they were going through their citizenship process in 2010. When I participated in Service Learning and community engagement courses with Hope, I became reintroduced to Hope in college. Then, I did an AmeriCorps year in the Immigration Department with the citizenship program. Afterward, I spent six months as the Team Lead for FLIC doing voter registration and civic engagement work in Volusia, Seminole, and Orange counties. My team registered over 2,000 people throughout Central Florida. Starting in 2021, I started working as the Director for College and Career Access at Hope. On a personal level, I enjoy watching soccer and tennis. I am obsessed with tacos and empanadas (Colombian-style). I’ve really enjoyed working with Hope these last couple of years, and I can’t wait for what the future brings.
