CJP’s dynamic community lawyering model is grounded in the practice of true collaboration with organizers to build a more fair, just, and democratic society. By supporting and strengthening community and worker organizations, CJP’s assists clients to regain control over their lives and their communities. CJP primarily works in the areas of housing justice, workers’ rights, and civil rights. Our current docket includes litigation, policy, and research support to: eliminate the “wage theft” epidemic of unpaid or under-paid wages; to preserve low-income mobile home parks; to confront “slumlords” in private-rental housing, foreclosed properties and mobile home parks; and to improve working conditions for day laborers and taxi drivers.
