Community Services: Building a Culture of Care
1-888-600-5762 Community Hotline
Our volunteer-powered Hotline provides live information and referrals in Spanish, English, and Haitian Creole, and our team is able to provide callbacks and follow-ups in many other languages. Close to 9,000 tickets have been processed each year, providing immediate assistance to community members in a variety of issues.
Protect the People & Naturalization Clinics
FLIC hosts two types of legal clinics in partnership with local organizations and law practitioners. The Protect the People Clinics provide access to “Know Your Rights” training and free legal consultation for community members regarding prospective and/or pending immigration cases. During our Naturalization Clinics, community members can access free or low-cost naturalization support.
Essential but Excluded Fund
The Essential but Excluded Fund was launched in May 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 crisis. The pandemic and its related socioeconomic crisis disproportionately impacted Black and Brown communities and, yet, many immigrants remained excluded from government relief packages. The Essential but Excluded Fund is providing emergency assistance (up to $500 per household) to immigrant families facing hardship, and more than 500 families received support from the Fund in 2020.
English Innovation Courses
FLIC hosts multiple English Innovation Courses each year, and the program is currently 100% digital. Participants access political education through English training and have the opportunity to engage with FLIC’s various campaigns and programs during each course’s cycle.
