Miami, FL – On May 19th, the day that Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) was expected to be implemented, immigrant families and community advocates throughout Florida take action to demand that President Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration is restored.

Floridians from all over the state will call and email their local elected officials asking that they pass resolutions in favor of immigrant families, following Kissimmee’s example.

In addition, delegations will visit County Commissioners in Miami-Dade and Broward to make the request personally, and there will be a rally in front of the Broward Transitional Center in Pompano Beach onTuesday evening.

Together with the expansion of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), DAPA was part of Obama’s Administrative Relief programs to stop the deportations of undocumented immigrants who migrated at a very young age or have children who are U.S. Citizens or Legal Permanent Residents. This month, 253,000 Floridians would have been able to benefit from these programs, if it wasn’t because they were temporarily blocked by an ill-intended lawsuit supported by Florida’s Attorney General Pam Bondi, along with 26 other states.
