Orlando, FL- In response to the tragic events that took place at Pulse Nightclub on Sunday, June 12th, Ricardo Negron Almodovar, English Innovations Lead Coach for the Florida Immigrant coalition and survivor stated:
“Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of those who were affected by the monstrous attack during Latin night at Pulse Nightclub, a space that celebrates self-expression and diversity by opening its doors to the Latino community and immigrants from all nationalities.
We must not get caught on efforts of opportunists who are using the victims from the Pulse massacre as a way to further their message of hate and fear, while ignoring the increasing anti-LGBT legislation that encourages homophobia and the lenient gun control laws that make these type of weapons accessible to begin with.
The only way to survive and thrive is to continue to fight for a world where people are free to be their true selves, to live and love without fear, regardless of sexual orientation, identity, religion, or immigration status. We stand in solidarity with the LGBT and Muslim communities and reflect on the senseless violence affecting families across our nation and all around the world.”
